"Chasing Ghosts" on Showtime!

It's taken forever, but you will be able to watch the movie Chasing Ghosts on the Showtime channel in December. Yay!

Upcoming Benefit Game Day - August 23rd

I have settled on Saturday, August 23rd as the final date. I apologize to those who can't make this date!

The response has been, literally, overwhelming. Thank you to all who have replied. So far it looks like 200 people may be in attendance, with almost all of those wanting to see Chasing Ghosts. This is presenting some logistical problems, as I can't fit that many people where I was planning on showing the movie (the upstairs of the arcade). I'm working on several solutions, including giving out tickets to specific showings and thereby limiting the number of people at each screening, and also perhaps renting the theater in town to show the movie.

More details will follow shortly, but I wanted to get the final date out there.

Chasing Ghosts at California Extreme (CAX)

This just announced - Chasing Ghosts will be screening at the California Extreme festival. The festival runs from August 11-12 at Parkside Hall in San Jose, California.

I'm not sure if I'll be going or not. I'd love to go, but just don't have the money to spare for another trip right now.

If you don't know what the festival is about, here's the description from their website:

"California Extreme is the "Classic Arcade Games Show". In a nutshell, it's an annual celebration of coin operated pinball machines, video games and other novelties you once found in game arcades. It's two days that celebrate this exceptional entertainment medium, featuring tournaments, speakers, parts vendors, and an opportunity to play games you may have not seen for years. LA Film Festival Screening of "Chasing Ghosts"

Last weekend we had a screening of Chasing Ghosts at the LA Film Festival, which I attended.

We had pretty good attendance. It was an 1100 seat theater (huge!), and I think we had 700 seats filled. Not bad.

I had a couple nice folks come up to me after the event and introduce themselves. That was really cool. One of those folks, Mike Kennedy, even posted a nice review of the movie here:

The weather was certainly nicer than the Sundance event. :-)

Chasing Ghosts Website and Trailer

All planets finally came into alignment, and we now have a website for "Chasing Ghosts", including a trailer for the movie. I did all the website work. Lincoln, the director, cut the trailer.

I'll be leaving town this coming Thursday to head out to the LA Film Festival where Chasing Ghosts has a screening on Saturday. Should be lots of fun!

Chasing Ghosts playing in NY at BAM

In addition to playing at the LA Film Festival, Chasing Ghosts will also be playing in New York at the Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM). The screening schedule is as follows:

Chasing Ghosts at the LA Film Festival

A little more details that I just found out. The screening of Chasing Ghosts at the LA Film Festival is going to be on June 24th at the Mann National. The theater seats 1200 people, so there's no excuse for you to not have a ticket. :-)

Chasing Ghosts at the LA Film Festival

The LA Film Festival has just announced the films for this year's upcoming festival and Chasing Ghosts will be playing there! This is the film about the 80s arcade scene for which I provided some of my computer animation.

Sundance Photo Update

Return from Sundance

Well, I survived Sundance! I put up a scrapbook of sorts for pictures and other memoirs of the event.

It was all pretty surreal for me, but it was worth it. I saw 2 showings of the film, including the Premiere. Both showings were with a full (real!) audience. Seeing my stuff up the Big Screen in glorious hi-def and a fantastic digital 5.1 audio mix was priceless. I'll definitely never forget it. I got to meet some of the stars of the film, and that was just plain cool. Walter Day was very kind to me and donated some official Twin Galaxies posters to me. He even autographed one of them for me! I also got to meet Ben Gold, Mark Robichek, and Sam Blackburn, 3 of the stars of the film. Totally cool. I spent a lot of time chatting with Sam. We seem to have some (geeky) things in common and it turns out he lives very close to me. We talked about maybe having a "Game Day" sometime.

So the movie hasn't found a distributor yet. I hope it gets picked up soon so everyone can see the film. It seemed the audiences very much enjoyed the film.

Sundance

I'm off to Sundance! I haven't mentioned it before in this blog, but I created some computer animated sequences for the indie film Chasing Ghosts, which was accepted into the Sundance 2007 Film Festival. I am traveling out to Park City Utah for a couple days for the premiere!
